Healthcare staffing shortages are no laughing matter.
That said, I couldn't help but chuckle when my sister-in-law sent me the meme below this week.
The statistics are truly sobering though, as COVID-19 cases once again overwhelm healthcare systems across the country. Currently, four states have less than 10% of remaining ICU capacity (Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana, and New Hampshire) while 15 other states have fewer than 15% of ICU beds left, according to data released Wednesday by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
The other states are: Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and Vermont, according to HHS.
When healthcare systems are this overwhelmed and short staffed, elective procedures get put on the back burner, and that's where medical device companies are most impacted.
