Small-Character Printer Assists in Meeting Code Requirements

A small-character thermal ink-jet printer has been developed to assist in meeting the complex coding requirements of the medical device manufacturing industry. The Wolke m600 enables high-speed coding of serialized data and many types of bar codes, including GS1 DataMatrix, in compliance with 21 CFR Part 11. Four print-head models make it possible to print from above or laterally, with print heights ranging from 0.5 to 2 in., facilitating integration into packaging lines. Quick ink-cartridge replacement enhances uptime performance. The system uses Wolke Universal Black ink, which features a long decap time and a short drying time, and is designed for use with varnish-free surfaces on folded chipboard boxes and other paper substrates. A remote control and monitoring function allows for the system to be managed from a central location, and it displays information such as warning or error messages, ink levels, ink consumption per print, and available memory space.
