ICD Data to Be Made Public
Bowing to growing calls for public disclosure about medical procedures, CMS said it would post data on its Web site today about implantable cardioverter-defibrillators. The New York Times reports that the records show about 4% of patients having at least one complication during an implant. It is suspected that the complication rates vary greatly by doctor and hospital, but that information will not be disclosed.
