Carotid artery stents received a lot of hype when they hit the market, but also drew a lot of concern about safety and about how much of a benefit they provided over carotid endarectomy. It showed significant brain function improvement in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with carotid artery stents. Hopefully this will help the procedure catch on.
