10 Medical Device Crimes that Led to Jail Time—Khandan

In September 2014, Bahram Khandan was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for selling stolen medical products online, according to the U.S. Department of Justice press release. Khandan owned a company that resold medical supplies, biologics, and prescription drugs stolen by his sister from hospitals where she was employed. Khandan sold the stolen items on Internet sites including eBay and and made a profit of over $1.8 million. Prior to the federal sentencing, he had already received a six month prison sentence in a state case.

Khandan's sentence: 15 months in federal prison, followed by nine months on home detention
