(Long Beach, CA) developed the industrial design, mechanical design, and graphical user interface for the Apex Finder by Sybron-Endo (Orange, CA). The system is a diagnostic device that aids in performing a root canal by measuring the depth of the canal. In designing the device, Nectar's team interviewed endodontists and observed and documented root canal procedures. Enhanced usability was identified as a key goal in the development program. Based on its research, Nectar designed the device in a way that eliminates the need for endodontists to shift their field of vision away from the procedure to obtain information from the device.
