Validation Software Reduces Labeling Errors, Ensures Traceability

In response to customer demand for one low-cost platform supporting traceability and validation, Via Information Tools (Naples, FL) launched ValiPack software at the MD&M West show earlier this month. Based on the company's Man-IT traceability software, ValiPack software validates each packaged unit for label compliance to avoid such issues as nonconformance penalties.

Mislabeled product usually results from misidentification of the product at the point of packaging, according to the company. To avoid this problem, ValiPack identifies each unit prior to labeling and subsequently ensures proper labeling is in place both on the unit and the package. The company cites a case study in which there was an 84% reduction in rejects by implementing the software at the point of packaging.

When combined with the Man-IT software, the ValiPack software can be especially helpful to smaller companies that have limited funding and may not have the systems in place to trace everything effectively, according to Matt Warren, technical solutions engineer for the company. "With smaller companies, a lot of device records are done by hand and can't be validated easily," he says. The software, he notes, enables companies to gather data quickly and to validate that data quickly and easily. Warren adds that the platform is scalable and customizable to suit a company's particular needs.
