S-Beam Load Cells Offer High Accuracy in Compact Package
Miniature S-beam load cells can be used in several medical applications. The LSB200-series load cells from Futek Advanced Sensor Technology Inc. (Irvine, CA) have high linear accuracy. The cells also feature overload protection up to 10 times the rated output in both tension and compression. The sensing element can be made of aluminum or stainless steel, depending on capacity.
Lasers Ablate with No Melt Phase
Picosecond lasers suited for micromachining operations produce a minimal heat-affected zone while ablating material. Additional benefits of the systems from Lumera Laser GmbH (Kaiserslautern, Germany) include low recast and a high repetition rate of about 500 kHz.
Insert Molding Machine Is Fully Automated
An insert molding machine will make its North American debut at the NPE show in June. Designed with a vertical clamp and vertical injection, the Boy 55 M VV from Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG (Neustadt-Fernthal, Germany) is equipped with a midrange Procan MD control and a robot mounted to its machine base. At the show, the company will be demonstrating the fully encapsulated parts-handling process by molding four different-sized hex keys.
