Precision Dynamics Corp. (San Fernando, CA) and IntelliDOT Corp. (San Diego) are collaborating to deliver patient wristbands that are embedded with either bar codes or radio-frequency identification (RFID) to acute-care facilities. The joint marketing agreement will help the companies enhance patient safety through their point-of-care technology. IntelliDOT develops and installs point-of-care bar code patient safety and documentation systems in hospitals. Its CAREt system is a handheld wireless device that scans the RFID-embedded wristband to provide a patient's medication and documentation information to the caregiver.

Precision Dynamics's bar code and Smart Band RFID wristbands provide nontransferable patient identification. Its Auto ID wristbands help clinicians instantly capture and verify data for drug administration, point-of-care testing, transfusion, specimen collection, surgical site safety, and patient billing.
