Scapa Acquires Supplier of Wound Management Products

Scapa Group plc (Windsor, CT) has announced its acquisition of Medifix Adhesive Products Ltd. (Luton, Beds, UK), which specializes in the production of wound management products. Scapa Group is a developer of specialty adhesive films and tapes that also offers coating, die-cutting, slitting, and laminating services. "Medifix's capabilities complement Scapa's specialty film and foam manufacturing capabilities, and its materials expertise expands our design options by offering a broad range of hydrocolloids and custom-made specialty foams," says Scapa's vice president of marketing Karen Kline.

By acquiring Medifix, Scapa has enhanced its specialty film and foam expertise.

Medifix offers hydrocolloids with varying degrees of absorbency in rolls, cut pieces, or complete dressings. The company also provides a line of medical-grade polyethylene, PVC, and polyurethane foam products that are available in natural color, skin tone, or custom colors. The polyurethane foams were developed specifically for wound care and, according to Kline, are breathable, conformable, and comfortable for the patient.
