Miniature Regulator
A miniature precision regulator is designed to offer dependably accurate air pressure control. Available from Pneumadyne Inc., the precision-machined regulator features an output pressure range to 100 psi and a flow rate of 4.5 scfm. Its maximum supply pressure is 250 psi. The regulator returns to the set pressure when turned on again after being turned off, and its control repeatability is 0.16%. With very tight design tolerances holding vibration to a minimum, the compact regulator remains stable under changing operating conditions. Additional characteristics of the stud-mounting, self-relieving regulator include low hysteresis and compatibility with nitrogen and helium gases.

Aluminum Framing Components
A line of T-slotted aluminum framing components offered by 80/20 Inc. includes hidden-corner connectors made from clear-finished die-cast zinc. Available in inside-to-inside and inside-to-outside versions, these connectors provide a hidden 90° corner connection for 15-, 30-, 40- and 45-series T-slotted profiles. They are suited for use in light-construction applications and are designed to make connection quick and easy using the set screws included with the connectors. No machining is necessary.

Self-Locking Fastener
Offered by Spiralock, a self-locking threaded fastener is suited for use in such medical devices as orthopedic implants that may have to stay in place for as many as a million lifetime load cycles. The fastener is designed to withstand loosening from the effects of repetitive loading, vibration, and shock. It is also engineered to resist stripping and shearing of the threads even when the load is strong enough to break the fastener. A 30° wedge ramp cut at the root of the female thread distinguishes this fastener from traditional ones with a 60° thread. Under clamp load, the crests of the threads on any standard male bolt are drawn tightly against the wedge ramp to eliminate sideways motion and distribute the threaded joint's load among all of the engaged threads. This feature prevents the first engaged thread from bearing a disproportionate percentage of the load. The manufacturer can assist customers by producing prototype tooling and customized tools for cutting the thread form. It can also help clients scale up production.

Panel Through-Hole Bushings
A line of smooth-bore bushings is designed to eliminate potential sharp hole edges that might damage wires traversing panel through-holes. The product assembly components made by Heyco Products Inc. can also be used as bushings for rotating shafts. Designed for mounting holes ranging from 0.500 to 1.093 in. in diameter and panel thicknesses of 0.062 to 0.125 in., the bushings are produced from 6/6 nylon in standard black and custom colors. The bushings insert into mounting holes in the equipment panel with fingertip pressure, feature a large-radius exit hole, and come with an internal insulating sleeve that creates a smooth bore and prevents locking fingers from protruding into the center of the bushing. The devices feature a flammability rating of UL 94V-2.

Microprisms
MPU stock microprisms ranging in size from 0.5 to 5.0 mm are available for medical device development. Offered by Tower Optical Corp., all nine prisms are of the right-angle type and have the form of a half cube. They are manufactured from BK7 optical glass, feature flatness of ?/2 at 633 nm, have a surface quality of 40-20, and exhibit angular tolerance of ±3 arc minutes. Supplied uncoated, they are also available with custom antireflective coatings for the legs and reflective coatings for the hypotenuse. Custom prisms can be fabricated to meet special requirements.
