California MedTech offers companies expertise in electrical, mechanical, and biomedical engineering design.

Paragon Medsystems has officially changed its corporate name to California MedTech (San Diego). “The new name signifies our sole focus on the medtech sector, as well as our ongoing expansion throughout California,” says Brian Kelleher, CEO of California MedTech.

In California alone, the company recently completed its 30,000-sq-ft facility in San Diego, launched a design center in Silicon Valley, and opened an office in Orange County. The Bay Area design center offers a development team comprising electrical, mechanical, software, and biomedical engineers, along with development and prototyping capabilities. The company's San Diego headquarters is home to an engineering team, machine shop, service depot, and finished-goods warehouse. It is also where California MedTech performs manufacturing and fulfillment services.
Beyond the Golden State, the company opened a manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico, last fall. It also established a manufacturing partner in Xiamen, China, last April, which enabled the firm to source high-quality tooling and molded parts at a low cost.
California MedTech's expanded capabilities could be beneficial because they help companies more tightly control their costs. “We become a variable cost that clients can turn on and turn off, without the ramp-up delays associated with recruiting, and without the overhead associated with internal staffing,” Kelleher says.
The company has been providing turnkey development and manufacturing services to medical manufacturers for more than 10 years. It has expertise in minimally invasive and wireless devices, laser systems and radio-frequency generators, medical electronics, and lab and biotech instruments. Clients extend beyond California and include Peak Surgical, Becton Dickinson, NuVasive, Zoll Medical, Boston Scientific, and Smith & Nephew.
California MedTech's services include concept development, clinical production, verification, validation, compliance testing, finished goods warehousing, and fulfillment. In order to enable the shortest time to market, once a product design has been validated, it is moved to the company's San Diego production facility and is then transferred to California MedTech's Pacific Rim site.
