“As part of our global strategy, the new facility positions United Plastic Group's full-service manufacturing capacity in an area where our customers want to be,” says CEO Richard Harris. “We believe that by bringing advanced capabilities into this region, we can provide high value to our existing and new customers.”

The new 62,000-sq-ft facility will feature a white-room environment throughout, including a Class 100,000 cleanroom to accommodate the company's clients in the medical sector. The plant will have engineering, advanced processing, and manufacturing capabilities in addition to being ISO 13485 certified and FDA registered.

UPG's newest facility will have up to 40 injection molding presses with full automation from 35 to 700 tn of clamping pressure, optimized material flow, flexible cell-based assembly, tooling repair, and maintenance. Each aspect will be integrated into the company's manufacturing and program management processes.

UPG, headquartered in Oak Brook, IL, is a noncaptive custom injection molder and contract manufacturer. The company already has plants in the United States, Europe, China, and Monterrey, Mexico.
