Plexus Doubles Manufacturing Space in China

OUTSOURCING NEWS Plexus Corp. (Providence, RI) is adding 60,000 sq ft to its existing production facility, located in the Xiamen Xiangyu Free Trade Zone in China. The 10-year lease under which the terms were decided includes the company's current 60,000-sq-ft facility, the new 60,000-sq-ft facility, and a three-story office building.

“With the support of our local supply chain partners, our lean manufacturing capabilities offer a significant advantage for companies looking for complex high-mix, mid-to-low volume production in China,” says YJ Lim, vice president of Asia operations. “This expansion will allow us to meet the anticipated needs of both current and new global customers.”

The new addition is slated to be complete by mid-2007, and production is expected to begin two to three months thereafter.
