APEC, a manufacturer of medical device components, has expanded its medical device manufacturing operations in Baldwin Park, CA. The enhanced facility includes three additional cleanrooms. Two of the cleanrooms are Class 100,000, including a 10,000-sq-ft facility for injection molding and assembly. The other cleanroom in this class is designated for assembly only. The third cleanroom is a Class 10,000 assembly room.
The firm has also doubled the capacity for its metrology lab by adding several pieces of advanced equipment for color inspection and measurement. Software has also been added to the lab. Overall, the expansion provides 50% more capacity for molding, metrology, and cleanroom assembly. APEC's Baldwin Park facility already included 72,000 sq ft of manufacturing space.
“This investment reflects our commitment to our customers,” says Anura Welikala, APEC's president. “[It also reflects] our commitment to grow as a molder and offer tier-one manufacturing services to medical device companies.”
APEC is a division of Helix Medical. The company focuses on high-precision medical device components and subassemblies, specializing in thermoplastic, insert, and two-shot molding, as well as silicone liquid injection molding.
