The AccuteX SP-500 EDM center features a direct-couple drive system and servo-controlled wire-threading technology.

Absolute Machine Tools Inc. (Lorain, OH), a provider of machining and turning centers, has acquired AccuteX EDM (Mason, OH) from Mason, OH–based Global EDM Machines. The acquisition enables Absolute Machine Tools to expand its product offerings to include the AccuteX line of wire EDM equipment as well as the TopEDM line of CNC EDM drills and diesinkers. Absolute Machine Tools will maintain the same showroom and contacts in Mason as it integrates the new AccuteX EDM division so that customers can experience consistent service and training."The main difference will be that we're expanding the existing distribution network, which will let us better serve customers throughout the U.S. and Canada," says Charlie Quillen, AccuteX executive vice president, who will continue to head the Mason location. In its new role with Absolute Machine Tools, AccuteX will be able to provide enhanced application-specific engineering support and training programs in addition to the company's expanded network of sales and engineering expertise, he says. For Absolute Machine Tools, the acquisition means it can offer its medical device OEM customers a broader selection of metalworking machines for various production needs. "AccuteX has developed all of its EDM technology in-house and is well-known for its user-friendly controls, fine-wire diameter technology, and high-performance auto wire threading," says Steve Ortner, Absolute Machine Tools president. The AccuteX line includes machines that feature six-axis control with five-axis simultaneaous interpolation suited for medical device machining and processing applications. Simultaneous interpolation technology can enable one-hit machining, which can minimize set-up time and maximize part production and spindle use.
