In the world of healthcare, categories like pharma, biotech, devices and diagnostics have a new companion: digital health. Venture capital firms have poured money into these startups and large, established companies have been acquiring them or at the very least inking partnerships and strategic agreements.

The slideshow below identifies some promising digital health companies. In alphabetical order they are:

Name of Company: Augmedix

Location: San Francisco, CA

What it Does: Augmedix is banking on the fact that doctors want to spend more time with their patients and less time on charting and note taking for entry into electronic health records.

The company allows doctors to use Google Glass to complete patient notes within a few minutes of the end of a patient visit. It also enables physicians to pull up medical records and interact with them using their voice and Google Glass without having to use a computer. The product is also HIPAA compliant.

In April, the Caifornia startup raised $17 million from five healthcare systesms including Sutter Health, Dignity Health, Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), TriHealth Inc. and an undisclosed organization.
