Lohmann Corp. (Hebron, KY), a manufacturer of specialty adhesive tapes and high-precision die-cuts, has acquired G&L Precision Die Cutting (San Jose), a full-service converter. G&L specializes in providing tight-tolerance rotary and flat-bed die-cutting, slitting, laser cutting, printing, and multilayer laminating services to the IVD and medical device industries, among others.Operating facilities in the United States, China, and Europe, the Lohmann Group, as its collectively known worldwide, views the acquisition as an opportunity to expand the organization's reach in the U.S. market beyond its plants in Kentucky and Virginia. "The acquisition of G&L fills an important role for our global growth plans," says Steven De Jong, president of Lohmann Corp. USA. "We now have a base of operations to support our growth in the Western USA, while also gaining access to the exciting growth market of point-of-care medical devices. With the existing coating and die-cutting capabilities we have in the USA today, it made perfect sense to expand our presence with the addition of G&L."The company's founding partners, who emphasize that the acquisition will not negatively impact any G&L personnel or clients, will continue to oversee operations at the current plant. G&L Precision Die Cutting will also retain its name but will become a limited liability corporation (LLC).
