Describe an innovation your company developed between 2012 and the present and its potential application in medical devices.
Current catheter and guidewire dispensers used in the medical device industry are held together using multiple injection molded clips. These clips add cost, increases packaging size and can be unreliable in holding the device securely. Further, clips can fall off in the sterile field, can cause pouch punctures and can result in failure in their intent to retain a device.

CCT’s DISK (dispenser integrated system kit ) eliminates the use of injection molded clips altogether by having a  patented “clipless dispenser” intended for packaging medical-use guidewires and catheters.

How does the innovation work? Please describe the technology.
The dispenser is thermally bonded (with no adhesives) to a High Density Polyethylene die-cut backer card.

Describe how your innovation adds value for medical device OEMs. Can it make work processes more efficient, reduce costs, improve quality, or improve patient outcomes?
While the dispenser retains and protects guidewires and catheters, the backer card provides additional retention and packaging of procedurally related components such as syringes, luers, and needles, presenting all these components in one relevant package.

The DISK packaging helps to reduce dispenser size, backer card size, pouch size at the same time reducing the surface area to be sterilized. The new design also reduces shelf carton size, and a reduction in master cartons. All this results in lowered production costs.

The new packaging means less time for scrub nurses to assemble the device and/or system. In turn it results in less time that patients need to be under anesthesia.

What distinguishes your product/service from those of competitors and what makes it unique in the market?
The DISK is patented and is truly a unique offering from CCT's competitors.
