ANAHEIM, CA - Freudenberg Medical is expanding its tubing offerings in its Beverly, MA manufacturing facility. The Baldwin Park, CA-based company said Tuesday that it was adding custom silicone extrusion and tube processing to its new cleanroom manufacturing operation.

Silicone tubing production started in January and additional capacity will be installed in 1Q23 to further support customers. The material focus is on platinum-catalyzed addition-cured silicones to meet the very highest quality standards for medical and pharmaceutical applications.

“We’ve been striving for silicone extrusion on the East Coast for quite a few years now to keep up the demand with the competition,” Don Durand, Business Development Manager, of Freudenberg Medical, told MD+DI at the company's booth at MD&M West.  “Their lead times are growing longer and longer and there is a need for silicon extrusion on the East Coast.”

The company is a processor for custom medical and biopharma tubing including multi-lumen, complex single lumen, and micro extrusions. The extrusion equipment and manufacturing processes installed in Massachusetts are identical to other Freudenberg Medical global locations for consistency and redundancy to mitigate customer supply chain risks. Durand noted that silicon tubing is used in in vitro diagnostics equipment.

“Freudenberg has added silicone extrusion capabilities in Massachusetts better to serve our Eastern US customers with custom tubing solutions,” Lars Gerding, VP of Technology and Silicones at Freudenberg Medical said in a release. “Our extensive silicone expertise combined with our long-standing raw material partners makes Freudenberg Medical the premier tubing design and manufacturing partner for medical device OEMs in New England and beyond.”
