Claret Medical's Sentinel Cerebral Protection System aims to reduce the potential for stroke in TAVR procedures.

While physicians are slowly but surely embracing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), the potential for stroke remains a big concern.

Claret Medical Systems's Sentinel Cerebral Protection System aims to give both physicians and patients peace of mind when choosing TAVR to treat aortic stenosis. The device uses filters paced in the carotid arteries to capture and remove debris dislodged during the procedure.

The company is currently enrolling patients in a pivotal trial in the U.S. to win FDA approval. Previously, a European trial showed that the device significantly reduced the number and size of brain lesions resulting from TAVR procedures.
