Charvi Shetty, 25--Founder and CEO, KNOX Medical

Shetty cofounded KNOX Medical, the company behind the Aeris device for asthma management. Aeris includes an accurate, portable spirometer, a technology previously only used in hospitals, to help asthma patients measure and monitor their lung function to potentially prevent asthma attacks.

Shetty earned her bioengineering degree from the University of California, Berkeley before getting her Master's degree in biomedical imaging from the University of California, San Francisco.

What's next--in her own words: "Beginning a 500+ person study with UCSF with our recently awarded $225K National Science Foundation Award."

What are the biggest factors that helped you become a young innovator? "My mentors and support from family and friends have been instrumental to where I am today."

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far? "Entering the medical field without any background in how things work. I feel like being naive in this field is more of an advantage though, since there are no pre-set barriers set in my mind."
