Geomagic Opens Subsidiary in Shanghai

OUTSOURCING NEWS Geomagic (Research Triangle Park, NC), a software and services firm, has opened a wholly owned subsidiary in Shanghai. Geomagic (Shanghai) Software Company, Ltd., the company's new Shanghai outfit, was created as a result of increasing demand for software in the Chinese manufacturing market.

Geomagic Opens Subsidiary in Shanghai

“China is an evolving market, especially in the areas of design and testing,” says Jerry Zhou, deputy general manager for Geomagic (Shanghai) Software. “We believe Geomagic [products] will contribute to China's developing economy by offering engineering and inspection to a growing customer base.”

Shanghai operations will include sales, training, and support to customers throughout the region. Development and software testing will also be available, and all software products will be available in Chinese. The facility is located in a new economic development zone less than five miles away from the domestic Shanghai airport.

Geomagic software allows engineers and designers to transform scan data from physical objects into accurate digital models for applications ranging from digital shape reconstruction for mass customization and reverse engineering to computer-aided inspection. The company currently has subsidiaries in Singapore, Japan, Germany, The Netherlands, and Hungary.
