Dentsply Sirona Makes $375 Million Acquisition

Dentsply Sirona officials say MIS Implants Technologies has a large portfolio of dental implants and related products under a well-established brand.

Dentsply Sirona, which touts itself as the world's largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, said Monday that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire all the shares MIS Implants Technologies. 

The purchase price for the privately-held Israel-based company is $375 million. The deal is expected to be accretive to adjusted earnings per share within the first 12 months following its closing.

MIS (Make It Simple) sells its products in more than 65 countries worldwide. It sells a wide array of dental implants and prosthetics, as well as grafting materials and guided surgery services. Its recent innovations include the V3 implant system, which is patented for its unique triangular shape that is supposed to be more biologically friendly

"MIS is uniquely positioned to address the value segment of the implant market in both its home region and around the globe. ... MIS has a broad portfolio of implants and related products under a well-established brand, making it a great complement to our company," Jeffrey T. Slovin, CEO of Dentsply Sirona, said in a news release. 

News of the acquisition comes nearly four months after Dentsply International and Sirona Dental Systems completed their $14.5 billion "merger of equals." The company has an estimated $3.8 billion a year in annual revenue and 15,000 employees.
