10 Whistleblower Lawsuits That Rocked Medtech

There appears to have been an uptick in whistleblower lawsuits against medical device companies in recent years.

While the U.S. Department of Justice has a longer history prosecuting fraud cases against Big Pharma, the DOJ is beginning to look specifically at exposing fraud in medical devices, sharpening its investigation of fraud within medical device startups that are later acquired by larger medtech firms.

A recent example of this includes the whistleblower lawsuit and criminal charges related to the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Acclarent, which J&J acquired in 2010.
