10 Healthcare Technologies to Keep an Eye On

Oracle, soothsayer, augur, visionary—it sure seems one would have to have one of those jobs to figure out how disruptive changes in healthcare are going to affect the medical device industry.

That isn’t stopping analysts from having a try at figuring out what the future has in store, including recent reports, one from the ECRI Institute and another from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Just look at the number of consumer electronics and other types of companies showing an interest in healthcare, and odds are that some disruption could be on the way, says Will Falk, North and South America healthcare leader at Pricewaterhousecoopers (PwC).

“If you look at the 50 biggest companies in the world, 14 were already healthcare companies. Of the other 36, 24 now all have healthcare strategies. If Apple and Samsung and Verizon and General Motors all enter your business, you’re going to want to take notice of that and understand what that means,” Falk says.
