Majority of Patients Want Access to Electronic Medical Records [Infographic]

Accenture has released the results of its Consumer Survey on Patient Engagement and found that the majority of globally surveyed patients ( between 69% and 82%) would like at least some form of electronic access to their medical data. Of the surveyed consumers 81% said they consider electronic access to medical records somewhat or very important. Other capabilities consumers say are at least somewhat important include being able to control appointments, receive reminders, refill prescriptions, and communicate with providers via secure e-mail. However these preference varied by age group with 18-24 year olds more likely to say certain capabilities are very important compared with patients over the age of 55.
