Looking for a Job in Healthcare? Telemedicine May Be Your Best Bet (infographic)

The future of healthcare is telemedicine and remote patient monitoring.

Several market dynamics, including Covidien's recent purchase of a wearables company, hint at that future.

Not surprisingly jobs in telemedicine and health informatics are the fastest growing, according to the inforgraphic created below by Adelphi University that draws on several sources. Whereas other health jobs grew at a 9% rate between 2007 and 2011, health informatics jobs grew at a rapid pace of 36% in the same period.

Between 2012 and 2022, job growth in medical records and health informatics technicians is expected to jump 22% whereas informatics nursing poisitions are supposed to grow 22.1%. That translates to 41,100 and 544,400 positions. The infographic below also shows what areas are driving the market growth of telemedicine.
