CNC-Machine Programming Software Emphasizes Tool Management

A company has developed software that is suitable for programming CNC milling machines, wire-type electrical-discharge machines, lathes, mill-turn centers, and Swiss-type lathes used in such applications as the manufacture of implantable orthopedic devices. PartMaker Version 2011 is a knowledge-based machining system that remembers the tool, material, and process data necessary for machining individual part features with a high level of efficiency. The software emphasizes tool management functions. For instance, the developer created a specialized method for programming multiaxis lathes with live tooling, a technique designed to accelerate learning and enhance ease of use. The latest edition of the software includes an optional module for 3-D-model design and repair; better tool inventory management; automation of the programming of bar-fed mills; faster 3-D simulation; and an improved documentation wizard.
