A pair of ophthalmic research organizations has tapped a former AdvaMed official to run them.
James Jorkasky has been named executive director of the National Alliance for Eye and Vision Research and the Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (both Rockville, MD). The former is a lobbying organization, the latter a nonprofit group.
“My mission is very clear: To try to lobby Congress to ensure the National Eye Institute is properly funded,” said Jorkasky, whose appointment was announced August 14.
Jorkasky served with AdvaMed and its predecessor from 1980 to 2000. He then served as senior vice president for membership and strategic development at the American Association for Homecare.
