Scientists in recent years figured out how to create "cold plasma" that is "low power, without all the fancy other equipment," according to Satava. The technology didn't exist six years ago.

"We now have enormous amounts of free energy that's there that you can begin manipulating for biological surgery," Satava says.

When it comes to sterilization, "we've discovered that cold plasma does the same thing that hot plasma does," Satava says. The most antibiotic resistant bacteria die.

"There is no known biological agent that is resistant to 30 seconds of cold plasma," Satava says.
