Satava suspects 3-D printing might be "more important than the Internet" because it represents not only sending information over long distances, but the potential to transmit information that creates actual things on the end side.
"There's no delivery. Minimal inventory. It's just in time. It's custom made," Satava said. "Disposable supplies--we could print them locally."
3-D printing is even showing potential with printing organs, or even organs with electronics embedded in them, as shown above.
