RF-Welded TPE Bags
RF-welded TPE bags - ecoGenesis RF technologyFilms made of halogen- and phthalate-free Medalist medical-grade thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) from Teknor Apex Co. can be welded via the ecoGenesis radio-frequency (RF) technology developed by Genesis Plastics Welding into bags for fluid delivery, storage, and drainage. Available as a service or as a technology that can be licensed for in-house use, the welding process yields clear, elastic, high-performance bags and pouches from the low-dielectric-loss TPEs. The technology is capable of forming strong, permanent bonds between the elastomer and itself or with polypropylene and similar polymers. And rather than being limited to a straight-line bond, as with heat-sealing, it can RF-weld complex, clean-looking seal patterns in one process sequence. The TPEs are a low-density, low-hardness option with a broad processing window and good low-temperature flexibility. They also represent a safe, fully compliant alternative to PVC, thermoplastic polyurethane, and natural rubber-latex materials.
