Injection molder Plastikos Inc. (Erie, PA) has announced plans to build a Class 10,000 cleanroom dedicated to medical molding inside its existing manufacturing plant. Motivated by a goal to increase its medical manufacturing business by at least 25%, the company will house a custom 88-tn Arburg Allrounder injection molding machine in the cleanroom to accommodate growth.
 
Palladium Energy (Atlanta), a manufacturer of lithium-ion and lithium polymer battery packs, has achieved ISO 13485 certification. The company states that the attainment of the certification demonstrates its ability to engineer, test, and manufacture battery packs for mission-critical medical devices.
 
Rotary cutting instrument and cutting tool manufacturer Richards Micro-Tool (Plymouth, MA) has expanded its presence in the medical device manufacturing industry through several accomplishments, the company announced. These developments include the release of the company's proprietary MediDrill and MediMill cutting instruments for orthopedic applications, the acquisition of Swiss turning machines, and the achievement of ISO 13485 certification.
