Heating and cooling controls from Fenwal are designed for fast, trouble-free installation and wiring.
The new Series 59 from Fenwal (Ashland, MA) comprises heating and cooling controls that can be tailored for many OEM applications. Features include added power-input choices, more sensor options, four different relay output options, alarm and time functions, and a wide operating temperature range.
The controllers are designed for fast, trouble-free installation and wiring. They display temperature and other parameterson large LEDs, and provide accurate, stable control. Temperature is sensed by a thermistor, RTD, thermocouple, or solid-state relay,
and then the controller turns a heater or refrigeration unit on or off as programmed.
Set-point temperatures and other parameters are programmed using two push buttons on the face of the device. Differential and set-point offset values arefully adjustable, permitting application-specific programming for stable controland less-frequent cycling. Settings can be tamperproof, factory preset, or field adjustable.
The Series-59 product line includes timer features that can sound an alarm or shut down processes at a predetermined temperature set point. The LED shows set-point or process temperature and error messages, and a status light indicates when the controller is heatingor cooling.
The controller accepts 24-V ac or dc or 120/208/240-V ac power supplies. It can beused in conjunction with thermocouples or solid-state relays in addition to thermistorsand RTD sensors.
Output types include 5-A SPDT, 30-A SPST, and 15-A SPDT, and an SSR driver. The Series-59 controllers are certified to UL Standard 873. They meet the requirements of CSA Standard CAN C22.2 Mp. 24-93, and ANSI Z21.23 for gas appliance approval. CE approval is pending.
