Canon Virginia Inc. creates steel molds for medical device components.

Injection molder Canon Virginia Inc., a subsidiary of Canon USA, based in Newport News, VA, has begun to offer contract manufacturing. “This is a new business model for Canon,” says director of business development and strategic planning, Brian Strangeways. “In addition to providing imaging products, we're offering services to outside manufacturers in need of plastic injection molds.”

The company's technology centers on a proprietary software that converts customer designs into machine code. The company can then create and deliver steel molds for medical device components. The molds can be simple or complex, with tight tolerances, and are built to customer requirements. In addition to injection mold tools, Canon Virginia offers metal and plastic parts product manufacturing and reverse manufacturing.
