Y-Combinator is Betting on These 7 Medtech Startups in 2014

ycombinator-logo-fb889e2e.pngSince being established in 2005, Silicon Valley-based seed accelerator Y-Combinator has become one of the most respected names in startup funding. Twice a year (winter and summer) the accelerator invests $120k in several dozen startups (68 this year) across a variety of industries including biotechnology and medtech. The startups move to Silicon Valley for a three-month intensive where Y-Combinator works with them to shape and refine their pitch to future investors. The program has been responsible for seeding a number of well known companies including Reddit, Dropbox, Disqus, Pebble, and Twitch (which sold to Amazon this week for nearly $1bn). Medical companies include Agile Diagnostics, which allows doctors to collaborate remotely on patient diagnoses and CrowdMed a crowdsourcing service that lets doctors collaborate to solve medical cases.
