U.S. Sen Ted Cruz, R-TX, like most conservative politicians despises Obamacare, including its medical device tax provision. His efforts against the ACA legislation led to a federal government shutdown in 2013.
He recently revealed on the campaign trail that he doesn't have insurance and blamed the snafu on the ACA, according to the LA Times. "You know who one of those millions of Americans is who's lost their healthcare because of Obamacare? That would be me," Cruz recently declared at a campaign stop in Manchester, NH. "I don't have health care right now." But in a sudden reversal last Friday, Cruz's campaign explained that the senator was in fact insured--while his coverage had lapsed, he was automatically enrolled in a BlueCross HMO Plan.
