Carson sees HSAs as a cornerstone for any healthcare plan.

Like his fellow GOP presidential candidates, Ben Carson is extremely negative in his assessment of the ACA. "We didn't need the monstrosity of the $1.2-trillion ACA," he has said. "Even after it is fully implemented for 10 years, 23 million people still won't have any health insurance."

He has espoused giving consumers more control of their own healthcare, helping empower them, for instance, to have a health savings account (HSA). He has made the notion of the HSA into a cornerstone of his healthcare plan.

As a retired neurosurgeon, Carson has a unique perspective on healthcare.

Unlike some of the other presidential candidates, he has not taken a stance on the medical device tax.
