A medical tube- processing system facilitates coiling, taping, and cutting operations. The Model QC 3000 servodriven Quill Coiler from Kuntz Mfg. Co., Inc. (Santa Ana, CA), operates at high speed, and is robust and reliable.
The machine offers programmable logic controllers, a touch screen panel, and a quiet gear belt coiling drive. The unit can process tubing from 1/8 to 1¼ OD in coil diameters from 2 to 5 in., or in custom sizes.
The system consists of a multiposition indexing dial fitted with winding pins arranged in a triangular or square configuration. The pin assembly also features a simple means of ejecting the completed coil from the coiling nests. The cutter mechanism has a smooth sinusoidal slice action motion for clean, square cuts. The taping station is engineered with a tension-regulated payout and roller clutch tape feed. Tubing payout includes adjustable tension control with provisions for static elimination.
According to the company, benefits of using the Quill Coiler are simplicity and its low maintenance requirements. The unit has an operating speed of up to 45 coils per minute.
The company also offers a tubing dereeler mechanism for unwinding PVC tubing.
