Positive Pregnancy Test? Sell it on Craigslist

So goes a Craigslist ad from Brooklyn, NY offering to sell pregnancy urine at $80 for 8 oz. If you'd prefer to shop around however a cursory search reveals that you can find positive pregnancy tests being sold from anywhere from $10 to $25 on Craigslist.

While many of the posts seem to get flagged for removal, media outlets from CNN to the Washington Post have taken note of a surprising trend of women offering to cheaply sell positive pregnancy tests. Many sellers, like the one above, say they don't want to know what you do with the tests. Other say it makes for a great prank. “I have 3 positive pregnancy tests from my recent pregnancy. $20 each or all three for $50. Can be great for practical jokes! Use them on friends, family, or partner. Use them however you want :) “ reads one post from Rockford, MI.

Another posting from Atlanta, GA reveals a more nefarious motivation: “$20 READY TO GET HIM TO POP THE QUESTION??? SHOW HIM YOUR POSITIVE TEST ABD WATCH HOW FAST U GET THE RING!!” [emphasis and spelling are the ad owner's]. Another ad offers a bit more insight. "After I got pregnant, some of my friends wanted my tests for various reasons... Since then, many have asked for one of my positive tests and Sure! I don't care what you use them for. Practical jokes, sweet revenge, uncomfortable situations, breaking up with boyfriend, and the list goes on! Don't be afraid to reply - you won't be the first! I will take the test on the same day you want to pick it up."

While nothing suggests any reason for the sudden trend, the Huffington Post suggests it could be the result of a single post from a woman in New York. Perhaps other woman across the country are seeing an opportunity and just jumping on the bandwagon...Arguably the increasing media coverage likely also has something to do with it.
