A full line of surgical sutures has been designed for use in ambulatory surgery sites. The products, introduced by B. Braun Medical (Bethlehem, PA), were launched as part of a response to an increasing demand in the surgery center market. The company's Outpatient Markets division has also created a sales force to focus on the surgery center and oncology markets in efforts to provide nationwide access to the suture products.

Aesculap Inc. (Center Valley, PA), a member company of B. Braun, manufactures the absorbable and nonabsorbable sutures. “The suture launch is significant as B. Braun brings a viable alternative to the underserved U.S. absorbable and nonabsorbable suture marketplace,” says Dirk Kuyper, president of Aesculap Inc. B. Braun has a specialized surgical center team in place to introduce this suture product line to surgery centers.

Aesculap's product line also includes surgical instruments for laparoscopy, neurosurgery, and cardiovascular and orthopedic procedures.
