DEHP-free PVC tubing
PVC tubing that does not include the plasticizer DEHP is available from a supplier in 250-ft coils and in 14 sizes. Featuring a durometer of 70 Shore A, the tubing is supplied with dimensions ranging from 0.05 to 0.25 in. ID and 0.09 to 0.375 in. OD. The supplier also offers tubing made from standard PVC, C-Flex, Tygon, PTFE, polyethylene, or peroxide- or platinum-cured silicone. Single-lumen, multilayer, and coiled tubing can be provided with customized diameters, durometer, lengths, colors, lumens, striping, printing, and packaging. The company also stocks preassembled extension lines with various types of connectors, along with tubing holders, luers, valves, clips, clamps, and connectors.

Medium-pressure stopcocks
A line of medium-pressure stopcocks is available from a medical OEM supplier specializing in the areas of fluid management, vital-signs monitoring, and drug delivery. The stopcocks are designed for applications that must withstand pressures up to 500 psi, including devices used during interventional cardiology and radiology procedures. They feature a transparent polycarbonate body and a blue surgical acetal handle. Customized versions of the product, alone or equipped with tubing and connectors, can also be supplied. In addition, the manufacturer can add its antimicrobial technology to most of its stopcocks for protection against biofilm formation.

IV catheter tubing
A manufacturer extrudes precision tubing to custom specifications for medical device applications. Available in FEP, PTFE, and PUR polymers, the company's ICM tubing range is used in IV catheter applications. Certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards, the firm also complies with CGMP guidelines and operates Class 1000 to Class 10,000 cleanrooms. It uses process-control technology to ensure tubing consistency and to reduce batch-to-batch variation. A variety of subcontracting services are also available for the fabrication of such products as catheter shafts, prefabricated packaging coils, and protective sleeves.

Porous-metal filters
Exhibiting strength and durability, a company's filters and other medical parts are made from sintered porous metal. This material holds its form, functions in adverse conditions, and can outlast polymeric materials, according to the company. The porous-metal parts, assemblies, and filtration devices meet the efficiency, flow, biocompatibility, high-temperature resistance, and chemical resistance requirements of medical applications. These controlled-porosity filtration media do not shed particles, offer precise flow control at specified pressures, and can incorporate labyrinthine paths for depth filtration. Depending on the application, the parts can be sterilized or disposed after use. Biocompatible porous-titanium filters, implantable devices, metal filters in test stands, filters for preventing plugging in catheters, and precision gas-flow restrictors for incorporation into critical systems are developed in consultation with customers and can be produced in Class 10,000 and Class 100 cleanrooms.

Pediatric IV filter
Featuring optimized porosity for efficient fluid delivery in high-flow-rate applications, a 0.2-µm pediatric IV filter provides protection from bacteria and particulate contaminants while allowing higher flows than standard filters with a comparable pore size. The IV3 filter is suitable for hydration and parenteral nutrition applications. Its membrane provides good drug compatibility, and its construction materials pass USP biological reactivity tests, according to its manufacturer. Compatible with EtO and with gamma irradiation sterilization methods tested to 50 kGy, the filter does not contain natural rubber latex or latex derivatives, PVC, or hydroxyvinyl chloride. It can be supplied with a colored housing and can also be pad-printed for product distinction or brand identification.
