5 Cybersecurity Principles for Medtech

A letter from Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) prompted AdvaMed to reiterate these five principles for addressing medical device-related cybersecurity threats.

In February, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) wrote to various healthcare stakeholders, including AdvaMed, to seek input on ways to improve cybersecurity in the healthcare industry. AdvaMed responded to Warner on Friday, highlighting the five principles the organization's board has adopted for helping to ensure medical device-related cybersecurity threats are addressed in a meaningful way.

Medtech continues to land in the crosshairs of cybersecurity risks. Most recently, FDA and the Department of Homeland Security alerted the public to cybersecurity vulnerabilities affecting Medtronic implantable defibrillators and associated tech. Click here to read more
