Yes, you read that right.The European Union is funding development of a tiny drug-delivery system for the mouth, reports the Associated Press. The goal is to get the parts small enough to fit into a replacement tooth. An Israeli dentist came up with the idea to improve patient compliance with drug regimens. The device would allow the drug to be delivered through the lining of the cheek, a surface that is more permeable than skin.

It also has a communication port that could allow it to be connected to a hospital and/or be controlled remotely. Early prototypes can only be worn for a limited period of time, but the goal is to create a permanent fixture.
