Sponsored by MassMEDIC, the 11th annual event gave early-stage companies and entrepreneurs the chance to make the case for their product and network in a region that is on the cutting edge of medical device development. Companies that showcased their innovations included Taris Biomedical (Lexington, MA), which designed a drug-delivery device for treating bladder syndrome and interstitial cystitis; Profound Medical Inc. (Toronto), a company that is looking for $6.5 million to pay for the development of a real-time imaging device for prostate cancer; and Aponos Medical (Kingston, NH), a start-up company that has a platform technology for the removal of submucosal tumors. The Medtech Investors Conference draws more than 450 people each year from the areas of finance, product development, and manufacturing.
