Public Citizen, a consumer group, has asked FDA to investigate whether Mentor Corp. (Santa Barbara, CA) suppressed potentially negative data about testing on its silicone breast implants, reports the Washington Post. The group said it learned of the data, which has to do with silicone molecules migrating in pig serum, from a former scientist at Mentor. The scientist, who has not wanted to be identified, said he raised concerns while still employed but was brushed off by superiors.
