Jabil Cayey, Puerto Rico has become the first manufacturer in Puerto Rico to receive MedAccred Accreditation for plastics injection molding.

This means the company has met the audit requirements set by the subscribing member companies of the MedAccred program, including Bausch Health, Baxter, BD, Boston Scientific, Edwards Lifesciences, Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, Philips, Roche Diagnostics, and Stryker. During IME West, these medical device OEMs joined forces with the organization to create the new MedAccred Contract Manufacturer Subscriber program.

The MedAccred audit and accreditation program is unique as the singular supply chain process quality oversight program managed by leading companies in the medical device industry. The goal is to assure that critical manufacturing processes meet consensus requirements leading to the production of high-quality end products, which ultimately enhances patient safety.

“Through the MedAccred assessments, our processes can be rigorously tested to ensure we are utilizing industry-recognized best practices," said Bruce Marchioni, VP of quality and regulatory affairs at Jabil. "For the customers we serve, this mark of excellence provides confidence in Jabil’s ability to meet their expectations. Jabil considers this effort as integral to its culture of quality and continuous improvement.”

Plastic injection molding of the components used in medical devices demands high quality, accuracy, and repeatability. It is an efficient and cost-effective way to achieve precision and accuracy in component manufacture.

"Our relentless pursuit of quality defines not just what we do, but who we are," said Evelyn Ferrer, senior operations director for Jabil's Latin America business. "MedAccred is a powerful lens for illuminating the current state of our operations, providing insight that can strengthen our future growth aspirations.”

Jabil Cayey, Puerto Rico is part of Jabil, a global manufacturing solutions company headquartered in St. Petersburg, FL with operations in 30 countries. It provides design, manufacturing, supply chain, and product management services for companies in a broad range of industries.

Like the company's Puerto Rico site, Jabil Tijuana, Mexico also attained the MedAccred Accreditation for plastics injection molding earlier this year, becoming the first manufacturer in Mexico to do so.

MedAccred has been expanding its reach in medical device manufacturing in recent years.
