Are These Medical Devices Too Dangerous?
Activists say these devices harm patients and should be recalled or outright banned, while the companies that make the products insist they're safe. Who do you believe?

The medical device industry and its allies often complain that FDA keeps lifesaving medical devices from getting to market. But on the other side of the aisle are activists who say the agency hasn't done enough to protect patients from dangerous devices.  

Here are five medical devices that activists have asked the agency to either recall or ban outright due to safety concerns, while the manufacturers insist the products are not only safe but effective for their intended uses.
