United Kingdom—Avita Medical
Avita Medical, headquartered in Royston, England, has developed ReCell, an off-the-shelf kit that allows clinicians to process a skin sample into a suspension of activated skin cells, called a Regenerative Epithelial Suspension (RES), for treating burns or other wounds. The process takes around 30 minutes, and the RES can cover an area up to 80 times the size of the original skin sample. The suspension promotes healing of wounds, can reduce the amount of donor skin needed to treat burns, and can restore pigmentation of damaged skin. |
